Project Aim:

Examine chronic disease deaths among Indiana firefighters from 1985-2013 compared to the general population

Project Description:

Indiana firefighter death records were matched to four non-firefighter records to examine cause of death over a 29-year period using a matched case-control study design. Cause of death between the two groups was compared using conditional logistic regression.

Summary of Results:

Firefighters had significantly higher odds of death due to malignant cancers compared to non-firefighters.
