Project Description:

Investigators will conduct laboratory testing (COVID-19 antibody testing and other lab measures) and collect survey data from a sample of firefighters from across the state of Indiana over two timepoints.

Study data will be linked with existing physical examination, laboratory, fitness, and behavioral health data to study relationships between health characteristics and behaviors and SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Project Aims:

(1) Determine the prevalence rates of SARS-CoV-2 infection among Indiana firefighters

(2) Determine the clinical and behavioral characteristics of firefighters who developed COVID-19 symptoms and complications

(3) Document the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on firefighter behavioral health

(4) Develop best practices for prevention and control of communicable disease in the fire service
